Ant Clifford and Paul Hesp first met in 2010, when Ant was looking for leadership support to help him develop his fledgling website development and online marketing business. Acting in a brokerage role, PHMC introduced funding to enable Ant to engage with a specialist leadership coach. Since then, Paul also brokered a long-lasting relationship with our now lost, but very good friend Jim Scott- may he rest in peace. Jim supported Ant for several years as a marketing coach, and in fact Jim and Paul also coached each other. Since Jim left us in 2019, Ant has continued an informal relationship with PHMC, and is a member of the innovative Online Mentoring Circle.

Ant, like many owners of small businesses, found he lacked the feeling of accountability and challenge. How could he fill the gap that would often be taken up by a board of directors or non-executive chairman in larger businesses?

Paul Hesp carried out an independent needs analysis and Ant agreed to the Personal Development Plan that resulted. This focused external expertise to guide the creation of a business plan, and to develop his skills in managing staff- which can be particularly challenging in a highly creative environment. This route led Ant into one-to-one mentoring for the first time, and Jim Scott demonstrated the impact of this kind of support. Continuing in the spirit of mentoring, Ant was introduced to the PHMC Online Mentoring Circle, and this has taken his experience of mentoring to another level. Now Ant gains value both from being mentored by peer business owners, as well as mentoring them.

Ant has his business well under control, has had a particularly busy period during coronavirus, and has created the thinking space to develop plans for an international joint venture project in the construction sector. It's his next big project, and it's just getting off the ground. Creative Stream has found its strengths, and now specialises in branding and animations to bring to life great website and digital design. And he still has time to write, perform and produce great music, nurturing a lifelong passion and talent- you can listen in to his alter ego Lofter on Spotify!
